The Absolute Best Way To Travel
by James Steubing
When I started the Travel Secrets Guide over six years ago, I had one primary goal. Help people get the most out of their travel dollars. Over the years I have learned one simple truth...

The absolute best way to save on travel
is to become a travel agent

The benefits are incredible. The fact that your vacations become tax deductions is great but being able to stay at 5 star resorts for a fraction of the normal rate is huge!

The benefits of becoming a travel agent include:
  • Reduced hotel room rates and resort packages
  • Huge discounts and commissions on cruises
  • Courtesy upgrades to deluxe rooms & suites
  • Upgrades and discounts on flights
  • Upgrades and discounts on rental cars
  • Heavy discounts at all-inclusive resorts
  • Discounts on meals, attractions and events
  • Earn income on other people's travel
  • The list goes on and on
But becoming a travel agent has not been easy. For most people it's like changing careers. It just did not make sense. That is until now. Thanks to a company called YTB (Your Travel Biz) ordinary people like us can become travel business owners and receive excellent training at a reasonable price. In fact, you can usually recoup the cost to join with the savings you rack up on your first vacation.

As a referring travel agent you can also earn commissions on the travel of your friends and family too. Imagine being a part of the largest industry in the world (Travel) and having a blast while you do it? Now you can!

There are three main benefits to having your own travel business:

  • Travel agent discounts and upgrades (mentioned above)
  • Earning commissions on you and your families travel
  • Writing off your vacations and trips as tax deductions

Orlando For 1/2 Price!
by Stephanie Steubing
James and I just got back from an awesome family vacation in Orlando during the week leading up to Thanksgiving. Orlando was gorgeous and we had the best time visiting Universal Studios with our three kids but what made it even better was that we saved so much money! You see, we purchased a travel business a while back that has allowed us to Travel Better For Less. Here's what I mean by that...

As a travel professional, we were able to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel for 1/2 the normal rate. The Hard Rock is an awesome 5 star hotel and around this time of year the standard room rate is about $270 a night. Because of our travel business we were able to stay in the same room for only $135 a night. With a 6 night stay I was able to save our family $810. That's huge!

Well, it get's even better. At the last minute my brother decides he wants to take his family to Orlando too. So being a travel agent, I called the Hard Rock Hotel to book them a room and the customer service agent asks me if I want to extend my travel agent rate of $135 to their room as well. I said, "You bet!". As you can imagine, my brother was happy to save so much money, especially at the last minute.

Saving on the hotel was just the beginning. We received a courtesy upgrade on our rental car and discounts on attractions we visited. Now that I see how substantial the savings are, I will never go back to paying retail rates again. You see, we have already more than recovered the cost we paid to start our travel business on our very first trip. Now we can afford to travel more often, stay at better hotels and pay less to do it!

Have you ever been afraid to book a room at an unfamiliar hotel because you may not like it? Worry no more! TripAdvisor.com is the perfect website to visit to find out if a hotel or resort is worth visiting or should be avoided. Vacations = Tax Deductions?
Absolutely, if you own your own travel business. In addition to the great discounts and other perks that come with being a travel agent, you can also classify your vacations as fact finding trips to see how well a resort or hotel will fit with your travel customers. You should consult with your tax advisor to find out how these types of deductions can benefit you.
